The Ladybug and Family Moves On

Ladies and Gentlemen the time has come for this family to move on...

In 8 days we will change our address, we will leave behind the extreme heat, our cute little house, and most importantly our family and friends. We are going on an adventure.

Texas has been VERY good to us, this is where our little family came together. 5 years ago two random people had lunch in a little town and this whole roller coaster began. Then we stopped and picked up another little passenger along the way. Two dogs and a beautiful little Ladybug later it is time to see what Colorado has to offer. I have heard wonderful things about it, and I also hear that they have a wonderful zoo!!

Maybe we will be able to find that brother and/or sister along the way. The ladybug keeps telling us that there are two more :)

The Legend Continues On...

A Successful Trip to the Circus!

So two years ago I had the fabulous idea to take a very scared little two year old to the circus. It was my birthday and Gran had taken me, it was so much fun, Safi would have a blast too!!

Let's just say we didn't even make it through the National Anthem. The screaming and clawing to get out was incredible, I'm sure that those around us were glad when we left.

Now here we are two years later and EVERYONE had a blast!! We stayed through the whole show (and managed to get out WITHOUT one of those funky twirly light up things)!!

The animals were the highlight for Safi, no surprise there. Another fun family memory!!

The Ladybug Does Responsibility

We are lucky, Safi has been a pretty good kid.  She is helpful and can take care of things like dressing herself, putting her shoes on, and cleaning up (with a bit of guidance).

With school just around the corner I decided that it was time to really start a morning and evening routine and to make her responsible for certain "chores" throughout the day. So I went in search of some ideas on the internet, well Pinterest.  I came across an interesting blog entry, we can't do it all, no matter how hard we try, something has to give and the kids can help us! ;)

This blog entry in turn led me to this site Your Life Events you have to become a member but you get access to so many free printables and it was here that I found the cards we are using for Morning and Evening routines.  The site has both pink or blue cards.  I printed them out on magnetic paper and I am going to get a cookie sheet to put in Safi's room so she can look at them as a reminder.

Then on my search I found Sutton Grace here I found a customizable "responsibility" list and some good ideas for some Family Rules.

After Day 2 all seems to be going well.  Safi and I talked and decided that instead of a check or no check we could color in the following directions circle and we talk about it at the end of the day and she helps to decided how much to color in the circle.  I know she is 4, but Safi should understand why she does/doesn't get the whole circle colored in.

I haven't figured out a "reward" and I'm not sure that I am going to, so far that hasn't been brought up. In the future I might use a penny a check or have a jar of "fun" things and x# of checks=pick something from the jar. I will figure that out when we get there I guess.

Just a few ideas and some links that you might find helpful.
