One More Step Closer

Today we signed the Adoption Placement papers.  It was so wonderful to see Safia Jane in print and on "official" documents!!!

If there was any doubt that she didn't belong in this family I think that it has been totally wiped out this week.  9 lbs. 6 oz. and 20 1/2 in. at birth!!!!

Everything is on track for the adoption to be finalized in December.  This is such an exciting time :)

The Ladybug Sweats in the Patch

Today Mom had the great idea of getting in the car and driving an hour and a half to this "awesome" pumpkin patch in Marble Falls.  It is the end of September, in Texas, it is HOT!!!!  Isn't there a cool, awesome pumpkin patch closer? There has to be?

There were tons of pumpkins with plenty of photo opts set up all over the place.  Face painting, will she sit still?  You never know til you try......

Lots of walking around, feeding the goats, looking at the letters on the Horse Ride sign, then we saw the tractor and it was all over with.  Let the cute spill.....

Well, we had fun walking around and then Dad learn what the air conditioner vents are for in the car, cooling off chicken nuggets of course!

Fall Gardening

Last weekend Safi and I planted our fall garden.  Unfortunatly we didn't get pumpkins in on time this year but we are trying with some peas, radishes, lettuce, and kale.  Each veggie has their own box and Safi planted all of the seeds.  We also put some flower seeds in the middle as welll for a little color.

It is our first year, we shall see what comes of it.  As you can see though Safi has a green thumb as well!!  The pictures are one week later and we already have sprouts :)  We will put in a trellis this next weekend for the peas so they will have something to climb on.

Now I have to start weeding the flowerbeds and we need to start thinking about what bulbs to plant this year.

The Spelunking Ladybug

Today we went to InnerSpace Caverns in Georgetown (more like a 10 minute drive up the road).  Chris had been here before he went searching for girls in Texas (and found quite a few).  Safi rode on my back in the backpack (since Daddy is WAY TOO TALL, especially in the cave).  We rode a little trolly down into the cave and then we were off on our adventure.

Safi seemed to enjoy herself and ooooh and aaaaah at all the right places.  She was so cute when we had to duck, I bent my knees and leaned forward and bit and she would lean forward and put her chin on the top of my head.

With all the rain that we have had lately the cave was wet and you could hear the water moving.  I hope that soon we will be able to go to Natural Bridge Caverns in Schertz soon as well.  I think that both Safi and Chris will like that cave as well.

The Ladybug Turns into a Fish!

This weekend we went to Pops and Sue-Sue's house and stayed at the cabin for Labor Day.  I don't know where all of her energy came from!!!  Safi was up til 10:00pm Friday night and up bright and early Saturday morning 7:30am ready to start the day.  Saturday morning we played on the swingset, walked around the Casa Bontia complex, ate some coffee cake and then we woke up Daddy so that all of us could go swimming in the pool.   We tried the river, but it was still too cold after all the rain that had happened earlier in the week so we headed off to the pool.

Pops showed up to see his "hot-shot."  We all had some lunch and Safi laid down for a nap.  Plans were made for us to go swimming at Pops and Sue-Sue's after nap.

So, Safi has had some hesitation about using her swim sweater (it has a tube in it to keep her afloat).  However, she doesn't like being in her giant baby tube either.  We get to the pool at Dad's I put the swim sweater on her and we get in the pool, she is a little clingy at first but within 10 minutes Safi is swimming around the pool by herself.  There is a slide going into the pool as well.  We started off with me holding her and going down the slide, and holding her up so that she didn't go underwater.  Safi loved it!!! "More, More!" and would take off for the stairs to get out of the pool.

After doing that for about 20 times, I told Chris to let her go down by herself.  Safi didn't want to have anything to do with this, but with a little "help" the first time and me at the bottom to catch her, she came up "Slide, again!"

Almost two hours later we drug her out of the pool to go to dinner.  I am not sure how she stayed awake through dinner after all of that swimming and sliding.

The next morning we got up and did it all over again before leaving to come back home.  Our little Ladybug has turned into a fish!!
